Here is a post on how Richard Branson, the entrepreneur billionaire makes effective lists…

I have always lived my life by making lists. These vary from lists of people to call, lists of ideas, lists of companies to set up, lists of people who can make things happen. I also have lists of topics to blog about, lists of tweets to send, and lists of upcoming plans.

Each day I work through these lists, and it is by ticking off each task that my ideas take shape and plans move forward. As the new year gets started, lots of you will be busy making resolutions.

Getting Referral Partners To Boost Your Business

Reading Time: 5min.

For entrepreneurs, getting referrals from other professionals is gold. This is one of the most effective ways of getting new customers since people who were referred to you are generally ready to buy or hire. The problem is that most people don’t know that many individuals who can provide referrals, so the question is how to expand that collection of people.

One of the first things you should do is to make a list of ten niches in which professionals are in regular contact with potential clients for you. Don’t think small here. You would probably be amazed at the number of professions that your prospects are in contact with every day. Bankers, lawyers, designers, consultants, and writers are just a few of the other professionals who could work with your future clients.

Start seeking out people in these professions, and make acquaintances with them. Aim for ten in each field. This will give you 100 people who you know, and who can refer prospects to you. Keep reading to discover even more helpful tips…

5 Steps To Get The Things You Want Sooner Than Later

Reading time: 10 min.

If you are reading this, you know that regardless of where you are in your life, there is more to achieve, more to accomplish and more to experience. Why do we see some people traveling around the world, working their dream jobs, creating their own business and truly living their dreams, while others are not? That is what this article is about. You may be thinking right now that there are many things you want to have or that you want to make happen, but you may not know the exact way to make these things happen sooner than later. There are several proven, key principles to understand which provide you with the knowledge to go forth and apply them, and once you do that you will start seeing immediate results.

We live in a cause and effect world. What we have today and what we will get in the future is based on the actions and thoughts we process consistently. Whether we like where we are or not, it’s the cumulative effect of our thoughts and actions day in and day out that produce our results. The good news is that we are able to change our thoughts and beliefs that will, in turn, change our actions that give us our results. When you understand and become connected to your purpose and you process the meaning you have given it, you are more likely to follow though and do what you know you need to do consistently to get the results you want. This is why the number one thing to understand is the reason that you are doing what you’re doing. Why are you working? The answer may be simply in order to make a living. Now, I’m not saying to quit your job, but rather see if you can start the ball rolling with something you truly feel passionate about.  Locating that passion and drive will then create the commitment you need on a regular basis in order to do the things you want to, even when you don’t feel like it.

As humans we will never go beyond what our own personal beliefs allow. Most people believe that they can’t do something that they haven’t already done. How do we begin to un-hypnotize ourselves in order to put in the proper beliefs and thoughts to create who we want to be?

An important lesson I have learned is that there are only two ways to get to where you want to be:

1. You can do things differently.

2. You can do different things.

This is the key: If you keep doing the same thing you have always done, chances are you will keep getting the same results.

That brings us the 5 Step to Get the Things we want sooner than later

  1. Find Your Meaning – Ask yourself the meaningful questions. What do I want to do? What do I want to be? Why am I doing what I’m doing? Who am I becoming? Where do I want to go? What do I want to have? With whom do you want to share with? By simply answering these questions you give your mind something to focus on consistently. If you don’t focus on them there is about a 100% chance you will never get them. When you do ask yourself these questions and write them down in your journal, your mind will begin looking for solutions.  In fact, your mind is designed to find solutions. There is something in our brain called the Reticular Activating System, which is like the heat-seeking guidance system on a missile. It’s the same part of the brain utilized when, for example, you buy a new car and you start seeing the same car everywhere. One of my mentors shared with me that you get what you focus on. And guess what?  He’s right. Don’t always rely on your emotions and feelings. Sometimes they can hold us back from what we want to accomplish. Understand what you want to be ultimately committed to. There will be times that you don’t want to do things and having that deeper meaning and commitment will push you across those old barriers.
  1. Train Your Mind – Have you heard that your brain is a muscle? It’s true. Some of you work out on your body, but how about the brain? It’s only the center of your entire life. So much traffic goes through your mind and you need road blocks, such as the brain, to help you filter between the helpful and detrimental thoughts. Don’t become a victim of your self-imposed thinking. Learn how to harness the power of your mind by filling it with ideas and thoughts that will benefit you. Focus and make your mind bulletproof. What would happen if you fed your body Twinkies all day, every day? Take care of your body and mind and it will produce the results you want. You might have to spend some time cleaning up the past mess, but I promise you it will be well worth it. It’s called the Law of Cumulative Effect. The question is not if something is going to happen to you, but when and how you going to control your reaction. How are you going to handle the things that happen in your life? From interviewing many people who have achieved amazing results in their lives, they all have one thing in common. They believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that the things that happen in their lives are just speed bumps to make them stronger. They see it as an opportunity to create the kind of strength to endure and grow and to help them get to where they want to go.
  2. Perception Is Your Projection – Take a moment and think about this: we are always in the process of creating ourselves. There isn’t a moment that passes in which we are not doing or thinking about something to create the results we have or will have.  According to Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), the difference lies solely within you. Everything we perceive is our own projection and whether we have a productive day or not is always up to us. Practicing “perception is projection” is a great learning experience in self-awareness. So if everything you perceive is your projection, does that mean you can control your projections? Of course it does, and this is where the fun begins. You exercise this knowledge by maintaining awareness of your state and what you are doing with it both internally and externally.  The people that achieve the most are always in control of their perception and are able to turn it into a positive projection to get what they want. If you are looking to get a better job or looking to get promoted or start your own company, then make it so in your mind first and begin to watch your attitude flow out and attract what you want. Action is required and once you understand how to control your perception you can leverage your projection to grow and move rapidly to success.
  3. Find Mentors – Nearly all ultra-successful people I have met have had multiple mentors in their lives. You can either learn from experience or wisdom. It’s your guess which is less expensive, but faster and smarter. A coach is there to fill those gaps of what you don’t know.  Coaches help you build that bridge to where you want to go much faster and more effectively then doing it yourself. You may be persistent in achieving your goal but that may not guarantee anything. I have been down the path of over-ambition, but executed the steps and in the wrong order. A coach is there to guide your persistence and ambition from an outside perspective and set you down the right path. They help navigate you to success. Having a coach is a sign of intelligence and strength because people who succeed and achieve do so in groups. An amazing mentor of mine once said, “relationships are links to our past and bridges to our future.” A coach is that bridge to the future you want to have.
  4. Roll with the Momentum – Everyday we have momentum. The high achievers measure and gauge it every day. Simply by reading this article, you are making progress which is helping you take leaps and bounds over the competition, while simultaneously allowing your mind to be directed down the path gaining traction to achieving what you want. The key to harnessing momentum on your way to success is consistency. One of the most powerful things we have in our arsenal is consistency which creates cumulative effects.  Whether it’s eating poorly and becoming overweight or continually applying principles that create massive success, it is up to you which choices you actually put into effect. If you market yourself and your business consistently, you have seen the effects. If you have been filling your mind consistently with amazing knowledge or have been coached on a regular basis, you have been building your personal arsenal.
